Winter Drinks To Warm Up Your European Travels

I will never forget my first kiss. I had no idea what I was doing. Would I miss or mess up? Would I like it? And what if I didn’t? Who would I disappoint? Onlookers and the bartender watched as I leaned over, tentative yet excited. I prayed to the gods.  Gently, I stole my first kiss. A smooth burning sensation hit the back of my throat, instantly warming my insides. I looked up, smiled, and knew it was love at first sight. Dutch Jenever, will you be my Netherlands soul mate? Winter Drinks To Warm Your Soul From local liquors to Glühwein and Belgian beer, winter drinks are The Uncorked Librarian’s favorite part of the colder season. Who doesn’t love a booze cruise down the canals of Amsterdam to see the light festival or ice-skating in front of the Rijks? Not to mention bicycle karaoke at the Heineken Experience. Who…

Winter In Germany: Add A Sip Of Holiday Spirit in Frankfurt and Cologne

The Holidays in Florida Living in Florida, finding Christmas and the holiday spirit(s) takes a little extra effort. When we first moved to the Sunshine State, we laughed as Lowes peddled plastic palm trees decked out in Christmas lights. Even with giant Nutcrackers guarding the streets and wreaths hanging in shop windows, usually decorated with fish and golf ornaments, temperatures in the 70’s and 80’s obliterate the New England holiday vibes that only exist in our imagination. “Where are you ChristMASSSS; I cannot find youuuuu.” Who wants to drink spiced hot chocolate as they sunbathe by the pool? Tourists and vacationers…and SNOW birds!! That’s who. But when you live in God’s waiting room with sand ‘snow’-men and dolphin statues donned in Santa hats, you find yourself wanting warm boozy drinks, ice-skating, and boots that serve a purpose besides just looking cute.  Trust me, I know about these things. Every year now,…

What’s Hot and Not: Epcot International Food and Wine Festival 2018

The Uncorked Librarian to Epcot Food and Wine is like Jessica Jones to her bottle of whiskey. Well, maybe that sounds wrong, but you get the idea. As an annual passholder and local, I look forward to the Epcot Food and Wine Festival every year, studying menus like my life depends on it and elbowing my way into the park to get a piece of that tender Australian lamb chop. What is on the menu this year? What is brand new—like say some bubbly OJ in a brand new Festival Center—and what shouldn’t you miss? Sadly, what is also missing? While there is so much to cover, here are 5 musts on your foodie agenda for the Epcot International Food and Wine Festival 2018. This is what The Uncorked Librarian found to be worth your precious park time. Epcot Food And Wine Festival General Information Epcot Food and Wine commences…

Where To Eat In Ocala, Florida (And Drink!)

Horse country. Confederate flags (cringe). Glass bottom boats. These are the images that Ocala, Florida invokes to locals and tourists alike. However, there is so much more to the off-the-grid city, and Ocala’s downtown square is slowly growing in popularity. With newer breweries, a winery where you can create your own personal oaky libation collection, and a slew of contemporary but quaint restaurants lining the smaller historic downtown, Ocala should not be overlooked. Ocala is an upcoming go-to day trip destination from anywhere in Central Florida with less than an hour or hour and a half drive. As local Floridians, my husband and I had no idea that hidden gems existed in horse country as we drove through the Ocala National Forest. With family in the suburbs and having visited numerous times, these are my favorite suggestions for where to eat in Ocala, Florida as well as where to uncork…

Ommm…Beeeeer…Ommm: Central Florida Beer Yoga

I wish that I could constantly sit on a plane en route to countries filled with sidewalk cafes.  I dream of getting lost down small alleyways and finding historic treasures.  Sometimes, though, I find a little local piece of heaven with these 4 words: Central Florida beer yoga. Yoga, Hops, & All The Feels: Central Florida Beer Yoga I have been a yogi since college.  P.S. Guys, I’m old so that means I’ve been doing yoga for 17 years.  Every Saturday is sheer yoga bliss. Seeking inner peace and a solid workout, I attend one of the most atmospheric breweries—dim white lights with a gorgeous twisting tree logo–for morning yoga. As I unroll my Manduka on the concrete floor, a gorgeous industrial-beamed ceiling greets me. Like a Lightroom filter, silver and muted tones of blues and oranges ensconce my mat and soothe my yoga soul.  My love of beer may…
