Out of respect to the nature of the site--the Hill of Crosses in Lithuania--I wasn’t sure if I wanted to post pictures. However, I did want to bring attention to the uniqueness and message of this less-frequented area, if you are looking for inspiring and history-filled sites that survive harsh times and radiate love, loss, religion, hope, nationalism, legends, and a sense of identity. Plus, there are over 200,000 crosses here, which I found fascinating and so personal—kind of like a lock bridge. 💕
I also double checked for permission from management to post pictures anywhere, including my blog, because there is a very small sign (truly you can hardly read it) that suggested asking first.

We stopped at the Hill of Crosses on the way from Riga, Latvia to Kaunas and Vilnius, Lithuania. While I am not a religious person, I appreciate these sites that speak for themselves.

As we walked up to the crosses, a man played the accordion, and I felt like I was at an Amazing Race pitstop—random, I know.

Did you know that Obamas hiked part of the Craven Gap Trail in 2010? I read that they picked this specific Asheville location because the trail is more private. Have you ever followed in the footsteps of someone famous?

I loved the Craven Gap Trail, which you can pick up from a secret parking lot before entering the Blue Ridge Parkway. The trail is only marked by stairs. While you will find one scenic view, there are caves, baby streams, and plenty of trees to gawk at. Along the Parkway, you can also find scenic overlooks and head over to the ever-popular Craggy Gardens area.

Sooooo, if you receive my blog newsletter, you know that I am starting a sister blog to TUL called Uncorked Asheville. Not yet launched, the site will focus solely on Asheville travel and the neighboring areas. I snatched the handle @uncorkedasheville on IG but I am not sure that I have the time to run two IG accounts or even want to…any thoughts? Uncorked Asheville will focus on the site first and then SEO, Pinterest, and Twitter. This seems to be the magic combo for my success so far.

In the fall, I’m hoping to meet up with one of my travel inspirations and heroes @anntranfashion for wine, and just last week, I met up IRL with one of my favorite online friends who also happens to be a yogi and librarian @tori__leigh. She’s the best.

Blogging and running my own LLC (which is now officially transferred from FL to NC) has afforded me some of the greatest opportunities and experiences. I’ve met the best people like @tastyitinerary and @literary_dates. I’m halfway to what many consider “big blogger” blog traffic on TUL (by Mediavine standards), and almost 11k engage with me on Twitter. 🍾
We even met up with travel bloggers in the Baltics, Cultura Obscura, who told us about fascinating places to visit in Lithuania like Kaunas, pictured above.

What I love about the Grand Poet in Riga, Latvia is that 1. It’s a gorgeous hotel off of a sweet park and 2. The hotel has small literary elements like fun facts and book/author quotes all over the walls. Plus, this is where I spent my birthday this year, back when we were road tripping around the Baltics.

Oddly, when I look at SEO tools for the Baltics (as a whole) for my blog, they get so few search volume hits a month. I am not sure why this is?! Lithuania, Latvia, and Estonia are pretty amazing countries and awesome to see together from the U.S.

Have you been to the Old Town in Kaunas, Lithuania? What a freaking adorable little part of the city. We enjoyed lunch and cocktails in front of Town Hall Square. This is a great stop for libations on your way to Vilnius.

When we visited, it was Easter: We caught the best traditional Easter celebrations including Easter egg hunts with massive eggs in front of Kaunas Castle.

I am a little bummed that we missed Ninth Fort and the Devil’s Museum, but we were beat.

Moving is cray, y’all!! Sorry I’ve been away! We love living in Asheville but man, life has been a dumpster fire too! 🔥2 weeks in, our HVAC completely blew. I’ve had no AC and won’t for weeks. It’s hot!
🔥My poor old man kitty needed the ER. We learned that all his teeth have to be pulled soon as they are killing him, literally. He is NOT a good vet kitty.
🔥I’m getting my laundry room done since the floor is disgusting and the appliances don’t work.
🔥The previous owners never serviced the septic tank in 10 years, the roof is shot, and the gutters were so stuffed, they were useless.
🔥Our moving company was complete garbage and racist, using the N-word in my house. They damaged our FL home that’s for sell and haven’t fixed it.
It’s endless! But, we made time for a drink at the Omni Grove Park Inn, which was gorgeous. I’ll be living here! Can’t wait to share our Asheville adventures. Did you ever have the move from 🔥🔥🔥?! #theuncorkedlibrarian

I’ve been MIA because this past week, we closed on a house in Asheville, NC. Closing is SO scary and a tad stressful. This was our second one, ever.

This coming week, we are finishing packing up and then driving the 4 cats straight to the house with an 8.5+ hour drive. We will be camping out in true Troop Beverly Hills style. My WiFi will be gone for a bit.
